Mystery

The Devious Companion Award

Wealthy trucking line owner Will Jacobson's hobby is driving his souped-up Mustang Cobra in his Club's road-rally races. He competes with fellow millionaires and a new faction of professional driving teams sponsored by manufacturers. The Club organization provides needed risk insurance enabling the lease of national forest roads – where the races run at night when the forests are empty.

Speeds have increased; the challenge of holding the line escalates as the rally members run dirt roads from California to Texas to Maine in all seasons from February through December. The competition is treacherous enough, but now, there's a killer stalking the night forest of the Michigan Rally – a deranged, incestuous sociopath is indulging to excess. Brooding, he stepped over the line with his first murder and discovered an adrenalin rush more intoxicating than high-speed races. Killing becomes a chase at the edge – incest moves over, Death becomes his new co-driver at every outing.

Self-absorbed and bored with life, Jacobson fancies himself an amateur sleuth, intrigued to discover the killer's identity. He makes an unholy alliance with a wannabe private investigator named Albright; a truce with the State's top crime sleuth in Trooper Hugh McGrath; an adoption of Cletus, the town's slow-witted mascot; and, a pact with the Club's notorious seductress, Rea Anne, whose multiple dalliances beg revenge from a legion of scarred hearts. The Racing Club's wealthy misfit members and greedy sponsors run their choice sports cars past car wrecks and spoiled wives into sexual betrayals on the way to the prize money. Inevitably, not everyone walks away – the final rally engages a fatal whir of cosmic tumblers, propelling the players hell-bent in a race to a finish line no wants to come near.

Historical

Incident On A Buffalo Hunt

Crazy Horse—the very words invoke the epitome of America’s Western legends. TLLong breathes full dramatic life into the charismatic natural war leader in epic defeats of Crook and Custer. Never before described, historical insights into conspiracies that plagued and tragically murdered Crazy Horse.

These root causes of yesteryear spring to life in a double retrospective with a tale of intrigue, blood feuds, adultery and violence in the life of the celebrated defiant war leader who outflanked the US Army’s best generals daring to invade the last Lakota hunting grounds.

TL is engaged in the rigors of a triology of epic proportions shedding light on conspiracy theories in an imaginative historical novel that joins a lively cast of characters for and against main protagonist Tashunka Witko–Crazy Horse: the Hunkpatila Oglala of the Teton Lakota. Long spent pilgrimage time spanning three decades visiting most of the Lakota Battlefields of the West digging up ‘bones of the Oglala past.’ Internecine antagonists then, continue today, still splitting the tribe into two major factions.
